Wide Bay Burnett LG Safety Officers Group in Gympie
It was a great opportunity for LGMS and LGW WHS team members to attend the Wide Bay Burnett Local Government Safety Officers Consultative Group hosted by Gympie Regional Council on Wednesday 19 May.
Glenn Groves of MAC Training Solutions discussed the subsidised (mostly free) training Councils can access for Civil Construction Certification as well as Plant Verification of Current Competencies (VOCC). Pauline Heath (LGW WHS Consultant) provided an overview of LGW’s fresh start approach under the guidance of new LGW WHS Manager Peter Gould who is steering the team in an exciting new direction. She also provided an update on the LGW Mutual Risk Obligations Program outlining expectations of both members and the scheme.
Gympie Regional Council’s CEO Shane Gray provided an overview of where Council are at in terms of their safety journey, and how he has embarked on a transformational leadership journey with the team for safety to be seen as a priority across all areas of Council. Shane was also keen to demonstrate that strong leadership is of critical importance to WHS at Council and that he was happy to be actively involved in all topics of discussion throughout the meeting.
