Embracing Queensland councils’ unique coverage challenges

Back

Many local government services and functions are consistent from one council to another. However, the immense and varied geography of Queensland means countless unique situations arise daily that require specialised solutions and tailored coverage. This is where LGMS steps in, providing the expertise and support your council needs to manage these diverse challenges effectively.

Over the last 30 years LGMS has received many unique and varied inquiries from Queensland’s councils, and we are of course happy to help Councils navigate these, it can range from conducting snake-handling training and operating a rodeo school, to running fossil dig events and managing crocodile risk. Each of these queries presents distinct risks and challenges, highlighting the need for tailored guidance and advice on coverage.

LGMS was built on the fact that nobody knows Queensland council risks like Queensland councils. This allows us to provide comprehensive risk management and coverage solutions to meet the specific needs of each council. We recognise that there are a wide range of diverse priorities, circumstances and issues faced by each council and have offered guidance on risk management and coverage in many unique situations to support local governments as they deliver services and initiatives for their communities.

LGMS and our support services enable member councils to determine how they can manage risks and whether they can be controlled and accepted based on their individual appetite and tolerance for risk. By doing so, councils can confidently undertake innovative initiatives while ensuring they are well protected.

We encourage our member councils to communicate openly with LGMS about their ideas and concerns so we can provide solutions or point them in the right direction. This also ensures that we can provide accurate and effective guidance and support, so your unique services turn into achievable realities that are appropriately covered. Whether it’s coconut risk management, a camel race in your community or installing art in a public space, we are here to support councils.
